Rezoning requests must also be submitted to City Hall. A copy of the application is available here. Rezoning requests must include a non-refundable filing fee of $100.00 for existing subdivisions or $225.00 for unplatted tracts at the time the petition is filed. Rezoning petitions are subject to review by the Planning and Zoning Board and approval by the City Council. The process from the time a petition is filed may take 6-10 weeks to complete.
Lot split applications must also be submitted to City Hall and are also submitted for approval by the Planning and Zoning Board and the City Council. Download the lot split procedure here. Conditional use permits or variance permits may be issued in special circumstances. Property owners interested in requesting a temporary or long-term deviation from zoning requirements should review the matter with the City Administrator prior to completing an application.
In October 2019, the City began regulating outdoor storage containers. These temporary units will only be allowed if the property owner has obtained a conditional use permit from the City. The permit is valid for six months. Any subsequent renewals are subject to review by the Planning and Zoning Board and approval from the City Council.
